He keeps going and going and going…

I really love to sew but finding the time to do it is getting harder and harder. I have so many projects and ideas, all piling up on my sewing table and in my head, but finding the time to actually sit down and get to them feels like it’s next to impossible. I am currently working on a patchwork tiered skirt and top set that I have had a lot of fun making and I am excited to see it finished. It can be so challenging to try and sit down to sew since M has a total fascination with my sewing table and all of the interesting things on it. He loves to pull all of the pins out of the pincushion, one at a time, and fling them onto the floor. Them he takes my scissors and tries to cut whatever is laying in front of him. After all of that he resets all of the knobs and dials on my sewing machine and serger so that when I finally do sit down to sew I step on all of the pins, my fabric is shredded to ribbons and instead of sewing a straight seam I end up with a button hole. Life is never boring, and M likes to make sure I am constantly entertained. He’s a one-man wrecking crew and he can single handedly destroy a room in just a matter of minutes. What can I say, he’s all boy and a very cute one at that, and I wouldn’t change him for anything. He makes me laugh with the totally goofy things that he says, and I love to hear his little voice say “Guess what? I love you!”. And he is so nice to his baby sister G, sharing his toys with her and trying really hard to be careful not to knock her over when he’s running around.  It’s just funny how he never seems to stop, he just runs as fast as he can from one thing to the next, playing his little heart out and jabbering on about race cars, helicopters and airplanes as he goes. I’m going to keep on trying to sneak in a few minutes here and there in between monitoring M, and see if I can get anything done. And who knows, maybe I’ll have one less project to finish, so wish me luck!

Such A Funny Little Girl!

Little Miss G is such a funny baby! She decided her peanut butter and jelly sandwich would be better if she smashed it on her head, so she kept rubbing it in her hair and making a big mess. She was completely unapologetic about it too, smirking and smiling and laughing out loud about the whole thing. What a little punk! She’s really sassy too, and won’t stand for anything getting in her way. For such a petite little girl she has a whole lot of attitude packed in there, and she’s not afraid to let loose with it. She scolds you for not getting things done fast enough and is VERY vocal about it, telling you in no uncertain terms you’re not meeting her high standards. All this from a little girl that like to smash her lunch on her head.

Never A Dull Moment….

Today was one of those days, the kind where you feel like no matter how fast you try to get things done, you only get farther and farther behind. If it wasn’t for the kindness of my brother Mark I think today would have been filled with a whole lot of hysteria, followed by a ton of tears, but thankfully I was able to avoid most of that. With Craig away on business it always seems like everything is harder or maybe more things go haywire than they usually do, and to be able to call Mark and have him bail me out TWICE today, well it made me feel thankful, but silly nonetheless. I’m a grown woman with six children, fairly rational in most of situations and yet I’m totally thrown when something on the computer stumps me or isn’t working the way I think it should. I am getting more and more familiar with it all, but I know I have so much to learn and it changes all the time, and stuff becomes outdated so fast. I’m definitely thankful for those that have the knowledge, and grateful they are willing to use it in helping me. I did finally get most of my items listed on ebay today, and that was quite an accomplishment in between all of the other chaos here at home, so now I’m going to give it a rest and go watch a movie, at least until one of the babies wakes up……..

Thankyou For The Happy Day!

I had a very happy birthday today! I loved all of the phone calls and everything, and I am truly grateful for my family. I was surprised with a fantastic present from Craig when he gave me a new digital camera and I really love it! I have wanted a new one for a long time since I’m having a blast taking pictures of the kids and family events and such, so I will be able to chronicle so much more with this new one and post it all on my “super cool” new website! We had coconut cream pie since it’s my favorite, and I even took a picture with my new camera of the kids holding the pie! And Mathes upped the cute factor when he suddenly blurted out in sing song “Happy Birthday to you” without any prompting. Then he ran away and refused to repeat it, instead telling me he was a dinosaur, growling/roaring to show me what a scary dinosaur he is. Thankyou once again to all of my family, and I am truly blessed to have had such a fun day. And P.S. Mark & Mel, you didn’t see any “magic” at that show, you saw “illusions”!

A Camping We Will Go!

Craig and I decided we needed a bigger tent since the one we currently own sleeps up to 4 people and we have totally outgrown it. So we looked around and finally decided on this one, the Ozark Trail Cottage Cabin Tent that sleeps 9. The last time I went camping was when I was pregnant with N and afterwards I’ll admit that I wasn’t too keen on going again. Now, for some reason I’m really excited to go camping and I’m really looking forward to our first trip in May with our new tent. I have no idea what may have prompted this change of heart for me, but I have been feeling pretty cooped up lately and I’m trying to find ways to get out of the house any chance I get, and camping/being outdoors sounds so good right now. Maybe it’s Spring Fever? Or Cabin Fever? Maybe I’m just in complete and total denial and having delusions of a perfect family outing where we’re sitting by the campfire roasting marshmallows, singing campfire songs together while Craig plays his guitar, gazing at the stars and taking turns naming them with the kids, and all of us snuggling happily in our sleeping bags and drifting off to sleep peacefully while a babbling brook nearby lulls us gently into dreamland. When the reality is D won’t put his chemistry books down long enough to get out of the car, and if he does it’s only to taunt his sister about the wild bears roaming the area, C will be glued to her Nintendo DS buying another puppy on Nintendogs in between asking about all of the horrible ways we could die by a bear attack, N will hear C talking about death by bears and from then on every sound he hears sends him into hysterics thinking we’re all going to be mauled, H will be too scared and grossed out to use the portable toilets at the campground and only pretends to go, so when she goes to bed and falls asleep she soaks her sleeping bag and those on either side of her with a full days bladder, M will quietly wander away and fall into a fast moving river swollen with Spring melt-off, and G will wake up in the night, crawl away quietly and become lost and get adopted by the same wild bears D was talking about earlier, becoming feral and thus only learning “bear claw” as a response to any given situation, and never developing any normal social skills so she can’t get into a good college. That sounds more likely to be our experience, and yet I am still gung-ho. Or maybe delusional is a better word?

Best Birthday Present, Ever!(by Michael Scott)

Thankyou Mark and Mel for the best birthday present! Not only will I use it all of the time, but I will think of you both when I do! Forever, and ever and……ever and….. ever and…..ever……..a really long time!

Easter Sunday!

I only had the four little ones to dress for Easter Sunday with D and C gone this weekend, so I had H and G all dolled up in their matching Petit Four pink rose print dresses with pink shoes, hair bows and headbands. N and M were in khakis with matching spring green shirts and looked very handsome as well! G only tried to pull her bow off sometimes, and made it through most of church with it on amazingly enough. We got lots of compliments on the kids outfits, mostly G, but just because she’s so tiny and petite! We had a family dinner afterwards at our house this year, and it was a lot of fun! Everyone came for a yummy ham dinner and we had a really nice time afterwards just relaxing, talking and letting the kids play. Scott and Korby had gone to St. George and were going to stop here on the way home, but T got really sick so they drove straight through instead and got him home, which turned out to be for the best since he ended up being really sick, poor little guy. It was also Holly’s birthday so we slipped her a little present for fun, and wished her a Happy Day! All in all, even though it was busy day, it was one of the best Easter Sundays I can remember, but maybe that was because we got to stay home and didn’t have to travel anywhere and we just took it easy. There aren’t too many days like that!
